The Head of the Department is Professor, Doctor of Medical Science Dmitry V. Cherdantsev.

The main tasks of the Department of Hospital-Based Surgery named after Professor A. M. Dykhno with a postgraduate course are to develop and implement new surgical technologies, to train highly qualified teaching staff, to teach modern approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of surgical diseases to surgeons of the Krasnoyarsk territory, and to provide career guidance for medical students in order to enlist them in advanced classes in surgery.

The scientific program includes issues of surgical infection, the establishment and application of new materials in surgery, the creation of new medical implants for use in reconstructive surgery, the use of cellular technologies for the treatment of surgical patients, the development of new devices for the treatment of patients with infectious processes in soft tissues, abdominal cavity, development of new minimally invasive approaches in the treatment of diseases of the cardiovascular system.

Key partners are the Siberian Federal University, Research Institute of Medical Problems of the North, Research Center "Translational medicine", Research Center "Morphology", Department-Center of Simulation Technologies. In 2017, a joint project was launched, involving the development of innovative medical equipment together with JSC "NPP Radiosvyaz " (Krasnoyarsk).

Specialists of the Department have developed educational programs for surgeons to learn endovideosurgical technologies, including the use of modern computer simulators and operations on large laboratory animals.

The Department organizes and holds significant scientific and practical conferences on general surgery, coloproctology, and cardiovascular surgery. Specialists of the Department guide the work of the Krasnoyarsk scientific and practical surgeons’ society. One of the most important tasks is to support professional associations. The Department has established creative and productive contacts with the Russian society of surgeons.

One of the most important directions is practical implementation of advanced surgical technologies on the territory of the Krasnoyarsk territory. Leading Russian and foreign specialists hold master classes for this purpose. The members of the Department have been trained in foreign clinics, have mastered innovative surgical interventions to improve the quality of surgical care to the population of the Krasnoyarsk territory
