The Head of the Department is Doctor of Medical Science, Associate Professor, chief consultant neurosurgeon of the Ministry of Health of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Pavel G. Shnyakin. Deputy Head of the Department is Candidate of Medical Science, Associate Professor Milyokhina Ilona Evgenevna. There are 3 professors, 1 associate professor and 10 assistants at the Department. All the staff members are acting neurosurgeons and orthopedic traumatologists.

The Department of Traumatology, Orthopedics and Neurosurgery with a postgraduate course was established in 2017 when the course of neurosurgery was joined to the Department of Traumatology, Orthopedics and Military Surgery with a PE-course named after Prof. L.L. Rodnyansky.

Educational activity of the Department includes student courses of neurosurgery (for the 4^th-year students of the Faculty of General Medicine), traumatology and orthopedics (for the 5^th and 6th year-students of the Faculty of General Medicine and for the 5^th-year students of Pediatric Faculty), training of clinical residents in "Traumatology, Orthopedics" and "Neurosurgery”, as well as advanced postgraduate training courses for medical specialists in specialized fields.

In order to form general cultural competencies among students and residents, the Department annually organizes the City Day of Stroke Prevention. The volunteer students who are interested in preventive work in the field of neurology usually take part in the event.

The main areas of scientific, educational activity and work of the student scientific society of the Department are the following: the comprehensive study of etiopathogenesis, clinical picture and surgical treatment of cerebrovascular pathology (the scientific supervisor of the direction is Doctor of Medical Science, Associate Professor, the Head of the Department Shnyakin P.G.), the study of prognostic factors for outcomes and ways of improving the treatment results in patients with tumors of the posterior cranial fossa (the scientific supervisor of the direction is Candidate of Medical Science, Assistant P. G. Rudenko), the study of musculature in patients after metal-fixing operations on the backbone (the scientific supervisor of the direction is Candidate of Medical Science, Assistant Botov A.V.), the research of structure and location of Sylvian fissure and its components (the scientific supervisors are - Doctor of Medical Science, Associate Professor, the Head of the Department Shnyakin P.G., and Assistant Usatova I.S.).
