- Main scientific research fields and educational activities of the Department:
- Study of new diagnostic methods and treatment for various types of vascular pathology (atherosclerosis, coronary heart disease, and arterial hypertension) and development of new ones
- Study of molecular, genetic, hemostasiological, pathophysiological functions of resistance to antiplatelet drugs in coronary heart disease.
- Study of cardiovascular mortality risk factors’ prevalence in regions of the Russian Federation.
- International cooperation
- Scientific and educational activities in the republics of Serbia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan.
- Membership in the European Association of Cardiology, European Associations for Atherosclerosis and Arterial Hypertension Study.
Main competences:
To study ‘Internal Medicine’ within the course of postgraduate education, students must have knowledge and skills formed at the previous stages of their education.
The students must
Know: physical examination methods of a patient, interpretation of complete blood count and biochemical blood tests, pleural fluid analysis, ECG, chest X-ray.
Be able to:
-perform chest palpation, heart percussion, pulse examination, blood pressure measurement, heart auscultation; chest X-ray examination and interpretation under normal and pathological condition,
-palpate heart zones, conduct comparative and topographic percussion of the lungs, lungs auscultation;
Master: techniques of physical examination of a patient, ECG interpretation, normal chest X-ray interpretation, lab data interpretation, heart examination in 3 projections.
As a result of mastering the program, the student must get the followingcompetences:
General Professional Competencies:
- GPC-1: Willingness to solve standard tasks of primary care physician professional activity using informative and bibliographic resources, biomedical terminology, informative and communicative technologies; taking into account the basic requirements of information security
- GPC-8: Readiness for medical use of drugs and other substances, as well as their combinations in solving professional problems of a primary care physician
- GPC-9: Ability to assess morphofunctional, physiological states and pathological processes in the human body in the course of solving diagnostic and prevention problems of cardiovascular and bronchopulmonary pathology
- GPC-11: Readiness for the use of medical devices (like tonometer, electrocardiograph, spirograph, peak flowmeter) during primary diagnosis and treatment control of cardiovascular and bronchopulmonary diseases
Professional competences:
- PC-1: Ability and willingness, during professional activity as a primary care physician, to prevent the occurrence and spread of cardiovascular and bronchopulmonary diseases; to detect them at an early stage
- PC-16: Readiness for educational activities to eliminate risk factors for cardiovascular diseases, the formation of skills for self-control of disease progression and a healthy lifestyle
