Department Head - Vladimir V. Salmin, Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, Associate Professor

Address: Karl Marx 124, phone: +7 (391) 221 74 72, e –mail: medfizika@yandex.ru

The Department of Medical and Biological Physics prepares 1-4 year students in physical and mathematical disciplines for the specialties "General Medicine", "Pediatrics", "Dentistry", "Medical Cybernetics", "Pharmacy", and "Clinical Psychology". Students of the specialty "Medical Cybernetics" are additionally given lectures and classes in the courses "General biophysics", "Medical electronics", "Medical biophysics, general and medical radiobiology".

To control the quality of students' knowledge, credits and exams are held in each semester. An integral part of teaching physics is a laboratory physics workshop. Laboratory work is aimed at acquainting the student with the methods of physical measurements, their application in medicine and biology. The department is equipped with educational laboratories in mechanics, electricity, optics and biophysics. All installations are equipped with computers. The teachers of the department regularly publish descriptions of new and modernized laboratory work in physics and biophysics, develop textbooks and methodological instructions for conducting practical exercises. Courses for distance education have been developed. All published educational materials are publicly available on the website of the department and the library center of KrasSMU. Every year the department holds a university student competition in the subjects taught for students of all specialties.

Employees of the Department of Physics conduct research work under the programs of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, Federal Target Programs, RFBR grants, etc., annually publish articles in leading scientific journals indexed in WoS and Scopus, participate in international and Russian scientific conferences with reports.
