Department of quality control of medicines and medical products with a PE-course

The Department of quality control of medicinal products and medical devices was established within the Federal Siberian Research Clinical Center under FMBA of Russia.

The Department is aimed at professional training of both graduate and postgraduate students.

The department was established in July, 2017. There are six department members.

Head of the department: Tatiana Andreevna Barankina, Candidate of Pharmaceutics

Objectives of the Department:

Provide students and medical residents majoring in Pharmaceutics with an opportunity to :

  1. do research activities within the framework of their practical training at the medical institution which includes retail and compounding pharmacies;
  2. study the turnover of medicinal products and medical devices in the medical organization, including local acts on legal regulation of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.

In accordance with academic workload, the department members organize on-the-job practical training for 5th- year students of full-time and extramural forms of study (85 students every year) at the Federal Siberian Research Clinical Center under FMBA of Russia. On the basis of the department, students do scientific research and defend it before the committee.

The department offers medical residency program in specialty 33.08.03 Pharmaceutical chemistry and pharmacognosy (full-time form of study, qualification: pharmaceutical analyst).

Within their individual study plan, during the second semester of the 1st year of study, medical residents of the department do their practical training on production of radiopharmaceutical preparations in Nuclear Center with the guidance of A. V. Ozerskaya, Head of the Quality Control Laboratory within the Radiopharmaceutical Production Laboratory.

In accordance with the new educational standard, students will attend classes on Quality control of medicinal products and medical devices (144 hours) in 2021-2022. At the moment, there are two study guides in the discipline and instructional guidelines for on-the-job practical training in Quality control of extemporaneous forms.

An educational film and a study guide on narcotic drug and psychotropic substance turnover was created in collaboration with the Department of Management and Economics of Pharmaceutics within FSRCC for Pharmaceutics students.

Research areas of the Department:

- Quality control of medicinal products and medical devices turnover (including narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances) on the pharmaceutical market of the Russian Federation.

- Analysis of medical product procurements for multidisciplinary medical organization.

- Quality control and legal regulation related to the production of radiopharmaceutical preparations in medical organizations both for their own use and for use by other PET-centers.
