Structure

The Department of Urology, Andrology and Sexology is part of the Institute of Postgraduate Education in Professor V.F. Voino-Yasenetsky Krasnoyarsk State Medical University. The teaching staff is represented by 2 professors, 4 associate professors and an assistant of the Department. Moreover, the Department has three external part-time workers, they are the leading employees of the urological departments of “Road Clinical Hospital at the station Krasnoyarsk of OJSC Russian Railways” in specialties "Urology", "Oncology", "X-ray".

Competences

The students are trained in the following disciplines:

  • "Prevention of socially significant conditions in young people", "Theoretical surgery, urology", "Reproductive health", specialty 31.05.01 General medicine at the Faculty of General Medicine;
  • "Prevention of socially significant conditions in young people", "Theoretical surgery, urology", "Reproductive health", specialty 31.05.02 Pediatrics at the Faculty of Pediatrics;

Clinical residents (postgraduate education) are trained in:

Training of students at PE Institute (postgraduate education) is carried out in the following directions:

  • “Endourology” (144 hours),
  • “Urology” (144 hours)
  • “Urogynecology” (144 hours)
  • “Andrology and modern aspects of sexology” (144 hours)
  • “Urgent urology” (144 hours)
  • “Inflammatory diseases of the urinary tract and male genital organs”

Educational activity with postgraduates is carried out by means of special travelling courses within Krasnoyarsk Territory, Republic of Khakassia and Tuva:

The following programs have been developed in the form of supplementary vocational education:

Urology (consists of 4 modules) - 144 hours

Urogynecology (consists of 2 modules) - 72 hours

The main directions of scientific and educational activities

The Department carries out academic (conducting practical classes and seminars, lecturing), methodical (creating methodological recommendations for practical health care and study guides in specialized disciplines), research (publishing scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals of Higher Attestation Commission list, Scopus and Web of Science databases, writing monographs based on the results of thesis and scientific research), medical (consultations and urological case conferences; surgical treatment), organizational work (clinical rounds in large hospital departments, planning meetings, participation in certification and accreditation of urologists), tutorial work, as well as training of scientific and pedagogical staff and advanced training (clinical residents, postgraduates, postgraduate students).

Scientific activity

The main areas of scientific activity are:

  1. Minimally invasive technologies in the correction of hydronephrosis.
  2. The use of neural networks in the choice of surgical treatment for kidney stone disease.
  3. Guided regeneration in the treatment of urethral strictures
  4. Early diagnosis of kidney stone disease using mass spectrometry methods.
  5. Constitutional, anatomical and morphological determinants of LUTS (lower urinary tract symptoms) in women.
  6. Constitutional, anatomical, morphological and immunological features of clinical picture, diagnostics and treatment of interstitial cystitis.
  7. Visualization of medical images using shearlet transformation in the diagnosis of kidney pathology.

Clinical material is collected, candidate and doctoral theses are prepared, candidates for degrees are trained for approbation and defense on the basis of urological departments of Krasnoyarsk.

The staff of the Department is actively involved into clinical trials with other Russian specialists.

The criteria for early diagnosis of urolithiasis and markers of relapse are being developed in cooperation with the Research Institute of Molecular Medicine and Pathobiochemistry of KrasSMU. There are plans for identifying biomarkers of prostate cancer.

International cooperation

Conferences are held annually with the participation of foreign professionals. There is a growing interest to the events held, as the number of speakers from different countries is constantly increasing.

In 2019, there was held a School on urolithiasis under the auspices of the European Association of Urologists.
