The Structure

The Department of Philosophy, Social Sciences and Humanities is an educational-scientific structural sub-division of the Federal State Budget-funded Educational Institution of Higher Education ‘Prof. Voino-Yasenetsky Krasnoyarsk State Medical University’ (hereinafter referred to as University) that carries out educational, methodological, scientific-research, organizational and training work in one or several – as a rule, allied – disciplines, it is also engaged in training lecturers and advanced professional training.

Scientific-pedagogical (professors, lecturers) and educational-supplementary personnel work at the Department of Philosophy, Social Sciences and Humanities. The composition of the Department includes full-time employees (staff employees) and those who work half-time. Each employee of the Department acts within his or her job description.

The structure of the Department of Philosophy, Social Sciences and Humanities in accordance with its aims comprises Head of the Department and Head of the educational process who organize and provide for the work of this sub-division. The distribution of functional obligations within the Department is fulfilled by its Head depending on the employee’s experience, qualification, individual and personal qualities on elective basis. The issue of re-distribution of the obligations is considered once a year or when such a necessity arises and is approved at the Department sitting. Functional obligations of each teacher or lecturer concerning separate aspects of the Department activities are documented in the form of the obligation matrix.

Competences

The Department is responsible for teaching several disciplines, such as:: Philosophy, Bioethics, History, History of Russia, World History, History and Theory of Religion, Culture Study, Social Study, History and Theory of Arts, as well as organizing educational work and enhancing the teaching staff’s level of knowledge,

The main fields of scientific and educational activities

The Department fulfills:

• participation on a regular basis in scientific-methodological seminars, workshops, symposiums,. All-Russian scientific-practical conferences with international participation, the University scientific-practical conferences;
• holding students’ conferences where the University students and lecturers are invited;
• the Department participates in all-Russian and international projects, regularly publishes articles in journals of the Highest Attestation Commission (VAK), in international journals (including those with impact-factor), in field journals, in editions of collected scientific papers;
• the development of staff potential of the Department, encouraging the employees’ advanced training;
• participation in preparation of teaching materials, methodological and scientific literature.
